Biennale of Venice :Pavilion of Ivory Coast.Africans transformed their despair and the loss of the ‘mother tongue’ into an act of absolute resilience: the blue note, which allowed them to express this specific colour that was missing in the Western system. It is what allows us to sing loneliness and the weariness of life, but also hope. It is the tone that allowed Africans to survive and live. This was a poignant exhibition, with interesting conversations, good feeling and that’s how you get a statue there.
