The monastery of Yemrehanna Kristos is situated in North Ethiopia. The church which is one of the best preserved Axumite churches, is constructed in a big cavern. The monastery can only be reached by mule or with a 4X4 vehicle, via difficult and dusty roads. It is rather spooky. Behind the main building in the cavern one can find the bones and mummified bodies of 11000 Christian pilgrim who came from as far away as Egypt, Syria and Jerusalem to die in in this holy monastery. The Orthodox priest holds the Cusko-statuette that will be placed in the museum later.
